The Political arena
My generation is the generation which saw how the State of Israel took genuine chances for peace at the costs of security, uprooting Jews from their homes and ultimately receiving only terrorism in return.
In the 1993 Oslo Accords, at Camp David in 2000, in the disengagement of 2005, from each of these political processes Israel proved that it is Palestinian intransigence which is the true obstacle to peace, and that the root of the conflict is not territorial but religious. In this present era of Israeli disillusionment we must change the point of departure from which we begin to deal with this conflict. This includes:
- Recognition of our right to the land, and the importance of preserving the Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria, and maintaining the unity of Jerusalem, all of these stemming from recognition of our historical and religious national roots.
- Moving away from the approach that views concessions, withdrawal and retreat as the means to resolving the conflict.
- Applying Israeli law to the West Bank – we must eliminate the question mark which has hovered for forty years over Judea and Samaria and determine that their status is identical to the status of East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights. This will be an ideological statement that will declare the natural kinship between the Nation of Israel and the Land of Israel. It will also be a declaration of sovereignty over the Land of Israel for residents of settlements that today, live under the military rule of the defense minister.
The Committee to Promote the Status of Women
There are two major goals which I have set for myself as the Chairperson of the Committee to Promote the Status of Women. They are: helping working mothers by expanding free early childhood education, and providing incentives to workplaces that encourage the absorption of women.
Similarly, a goal is to encourage women to integrate into all areas of leadership, especially within the political system.
